With over 200 guests in attendance, the Formal Dedication of the New Annex was celebrated on September 17, 2005. Tours of the new annex were given and then a brief ceremony was held. The ceremony kicked off with a special thanks to Bob Austin and the Corporation Board for making the plans of the new annex a reality. This was followed by Brother Boone Pickens ’49 proving how much of a True Gentleman he is by stating to the crowd that the names on the Annex should be reversed and should now state the Smith / Pickens Annex. The Rush Chairman was rewarded for having an outstanding rush and keeping the lifeblood of the fraternity alive. Ryan Kirk, the current House Manager was also rewarded for having done an outstanding job with the new annex move in. Richard Johnson ’66 has been awarded with the furthest distance traveled by an alum award. Bob Austin gave a campaign update and stated that we have still not met the goal to secure a debt free house and that we still need everyone’s help to continue to raise the remaining $300,000 to provide for the young men for years to come. Bob Austin also thanked all alumni who have donated to the campaign. The ceremony was complete with Michael Schultz, EA giving a Chapter Update and the Active Chapter stated the True Gentleman. After the ceremony was over and the song Friends had been sung, we all resided to the tailgate location where refreshments were served and we awaited OSU’s victory over Arkansas State.
