The Phoenix Project

A source of consistency for most Oklahoma Mu brothers is the house in which we live in. For over 60 years, the house has seen nearly everything imaginable. The meetings, Homecoming deck constructions, social gathering, dinners and much-much more have taken place within the walls of the Chapter House. Unfortunately, the years have taken their toll on the house. Having been constructed in 1924, the house is showing its age.

Prompted by the recently issued City of Stillwater mandate to install a fire-suppression system by June 2004, the Oklahoma Mu Corporation Board decided to take a deeper look at the facility's long-term future. Utilizing the services of Fraternity Management Group (FMG), a firm specializing in chapter alumni programming and fundraising, the Corporation Board properly investigated its capital needs, assessed the interest and potential involvement of chapter alumni and began a regular distribution of information to the entire brotherhood. The two-year long analysis, conducted by FMG, noted significant interest by the alumni to fund a “rebuilding” project, aimed at constructing a new Chapter House, or remodeling the existing house.

Based on the overwhelming amount of support and positive feedback from alumni, the Corporation Board unanimously voted to conduct a large-scale fundraising effort to raise the necessary funds called the Phoenix Project.
